About Me

A Mother of two beautiful girls Chianne (21) and Michiya (17). I serve families, foster and maintain community partnerships, and manage programs in Maternal and Child Health and have been in love with what I do for 22 years. I work to decrease disparities in communities and connect with organizations with corresponding agendas that impact change in our society. I am 44 yrs. young, my favorite color is purple, I love dogs and I am engaged to my best friend Cory. I was born and raised in Chicago and I have been in Indianapolis for 8 years.


Previous Director of the Office of Community Health for the Healthcare Consortium of Illinois in Dolton, IL. As an extension of this role I served as the Project Director for Southeast Chicago Healthy Start where my tenure with Maternal and Child Health and my love to support families and the community began in 2001. I completed my undergraduate studies at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL earning a B.S. in Healthcare Management and I completed my graduate studies at the University of Phoenix in Phoenix, AZ earning a M.B.A. in Healthcare Management. I am a Certified Community Health Worker and a Certified Chronic Care Paraprofessional. I currently serve as the Community Engagement Coordinator for Indianapolis Healthy Start (IHS), which is a infant mortality reduction program implemented through the Marion County Public Health Department (MCPHD). I served as the Supervisor for the Baby & Me Tobacco Free Program implemented through the Indiana Department of Health (IDH), Supervisor for the Safety PIN Grant implemented through IDH, Intervention Specialist Supervisor for the Legacy for Children Program implemented through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and Site Coordinator for the IDH Safe Sleep Initiative. I also coordinate IHS Health Education and Outreach initiatives and supervise the programs Community Health Workers. I serve on the Public Awareness and Child Find Committee through the Local Planning and Coordinating Council for Central Indiana First Steps and I am also a member of the Councils Executive Board. I serves as the Board President for the Centers of Wellness for Urban Woman, Inc., and on the Advisory Board for Pike Townships Career and STEM Center. I was recently asked to chair the Fetal Infant Mortality Review Community Action Team/Community Action Network (FIMR CAT/CAN) Youth Safe Sleep Workgroup (YSSWG) to continue the work being done in the community with providers to educate families on required safe sleep practices to implement in the home.
