Hi everyone! My name is Najma, and I’m a wife, homeschool mama of seven, birth worker, and the heart behind Hands and Heart Doula Care in Southeast Michigan. I wear many hats in my community (although I like to see them as crowns,) but my family is at the center of it all. The love, lessons, and growth within my own home overflow into the way I serve families and my community.

My journey into birth work is personal. I’m a homebirth mama after four cesareans, and those experiences changed the way I see birth, family, and the importance of having someone beside you who truly listens and cares.

I believe birth is sacred, and it is an honor every time a family invites me into such an intimate and transformative space. I love creating spaces where people feel seen, heard, and supported. Whether I’m serving as a doula, hosting Parent Cafés, mentoring, or walking alongside families in other ways, my desire is always to meet people where they are with compassion and without judgment.

I’m taking the SMC Full Circle Doula training because I want to continue growing as a birth companion while deepening my understanding of the history, wisdom, and legacy of birth workers who have paved the way before me. I want to learn from that foundation so I can continue serving families with culturally rooted, respectful care while helping improve birth outcomes in my communities.
