Song title: Strength, courage and wisdom

    Artiste: India Arie

    Environment:

-Fresh flowers to make the setting beautiful

-charcuterie grazing table to provide heathy light refreshments for mommy nd guests

-a table with beautiful crystals/stones that have been smudged with sage before hand. The guess and mommy to be would pick a crystal that calls their attention.

    Gift giving:

I would ask mommy to be before hand to make a list of items that she feels would make her feel happy, comfortable and would give her strength through her journey. I would give each guest their own time to walk up to mommy and present the gift with a positive message.

    Little guest:

If the mommy has children I would have asked her to make a list of their favorite things so that guest could bring them a gift. This way little guest will feel included

Chandra, I love India Arie and the vibe you are going for here. I loved that you chose to include the mothers’ previous children by having them request things to feel included too. If they are women it also normalizes them being clear and firm in what they like and feeling comfortable receiving that from others. This is a big rite of passage for them and I love how this training emphasizes the role of the baby’s siblings in postpartum care.

Chandra, I love that you included something for the littles to be a part of! I also love India Arie <3, sounds like the perfect Mother Shower blessing if you ask me!

Also, this assignment has been very cool because the Mother Shower blessing challenges so many practices around baby showers that center consumerism and de-prioritize mother. I love how you bring it back to the mom and her needs and spiritually nurturing her.
