Indiana Infant Mortality Rate
Indiana Infant Mortality Rate
I am honestly disgusted to learn that my state, Indiana, has the highest infant mortality rate in the nation by 20 percent. It was also reported that in 2017, there were 601 infant deaths. It is surprising how nonchalant it feels when it’s reported that as of April 2025, there were 500 infant deaths, while there were 509 in 2024. Yes, the number went down, but it’s still unacceptable. I fear giving birth in Indiana and would not give birth in a hospital if I had a say. I feel stressed going into the emergency room for myself; there is no way my nervous system would allow me to feel safe in a place that doesn’t see me as valuable or even sometimes human, rather than another covert science experiment. I have also attached a graph showing the rate by race and ethnicity.
