I wasn’t able to upload my full tak with her due to the size limit but this video and caption explain what I was able to learn from her and help her learn through me! Outside of this video the better explanation of what we talked about was very much the same, for her to a lesser extent and myself to a greater extent. We talked about a mother’s comfortability, and advocacy for her decisions in her labour experience. I informed her that I agree completely but informed her that we may also provide information along with our care and fussing. That no matter the client we strive to support their beliefs and maintain our work as we have learned her in the SMC certification training. Lastly, I responded to her saying that what a doula is is essentially a birth/pregnancy secretary. I took that as a great way to put it and even saved it, eventually ending out by adding her example to my brochure. This was a great exercise for someone like me to work on communicating the struggles of all different aspects of what I could tell her about what I’ve been taught.
